AECP Family CASE Blog Hop

Welcome back crafty friends!  Today's post is a fun one as it part of a blog hop within the AECP family....those that are certified Altenew instructors and those that are participants still going making their way through the program (speaking of which I really need to continue on with level 2).  You should have made your way here from Saundra Rega.

For this hop we were paired with a fellow crafter in the AECP family and we were to pick one of their cards that they did for the course and CASE (copy and share everything) it.  We could chose to create the card exactly or we could just take inspiration from it, whether it be technique, colour, etc.

I was paired up with the very talented Jennifer Whalon Kotas and decided to take CASE her beautiful card here for the Easy Die Cutting Techniques course.  She had stamped, coloured and die cut some beautiful flowers using vellum and added them an embossed background.  For mine I tried to create this as well as I could, using the supplies I had but adding a twist to it via my much loved alcohol inks.  Below is her card I was inspired by or you can click the link just above to see her post and all the details on how she made it.

And here is my card that I was inspired to make.

So I first made an alcohol ink background using a piece of heavy weight vellum using some isopropyl alcohol, 2 colours of ink plus a metallic. Once that was completely dry I took my heat gun to it for about 30-45 seconds to make sure it was completely dry, as I was going to heat emboss on it and then went over it with my anti static powder as you normally would for heat embossing.  I stamped out the 3 florals from Altenew's Wallpaper Art stamp set on the front and not the back of the vellum and then heat embossed them in gold....if you were to place them on the back of the inked piece, you wouldn't see the bit of metallic that I added and the colours would be more muted.

For the background I took the Fine Frames Cover die and embossed it using my embossing mat, to give it some interest and texture.  It may be a bit hard to see in the photos, so I tried to get some close-ups of the embossing.  I stamped out the sentiment using Mega Label Love stamp set in black. Once I had that all done I added it all to my cardbase using some foam tape and strategically placed some glue for the vellum flowers.  Once I had it all on there I felt that it was missing something, so I covered up the flowers and leaves and carefully removed the sentiment to add some flecks of black watercolour paint.  Once it was dry, I then added my sentiment back on and a few gold sparkly enamel dots and it was perfect...the black was just what it needed.

And that's it!  I really hope that you have enjoyed my card that I was inspired by Jennifer to make.  In case you missed it above, here is where you can find her card that I decided to CASE.

Thank you so very much for hopping along with us and I hope that you will find lots of inspiration along the way.  Your next stop on the hop will be for Yasmine Magdy Sadek.    Just click her name and it'll take you directly to her post.

Thank you very much Jennifer for the beautiful inspiration for my card for this!  I hope you have a wonderful day and find some time to get crafty.  Thanks again and until next time, Michelle 💗
