Christmas in July

I've decided to start joining in on more card challenges and what better one than Christmas in July! I'm joining in 2 challenges for this one....AAA Cards and ABC Christmas Challenge. Over at https://aaacards.blogspot.com/ the challenge for this week is made in a minute with the optional twist of Christmas in July and over at http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.com/ it's all about no fuss or over the top Christmas cards.

So I got out one of my favourite stamp sets from Wplus9 called Woodland Wreaths. I just adore the simplicity of this wreath and the rustic feel of it! This is a multi layer stamp set, so you may choose to use as many or as little layers as you want, depending on how full of a look you want. I decided to use Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades from Altenew for the greenery and then Chocolate Chip from Stampin' Up for the branches within. I have normally in the past done the berries in the traditional red, as they'd usually be in nature, however for this I wanted a softer and dare I say more feminine look for this, so I used my VersaMark ink to stamp the berries and then white heat embossed them. It definitely lends a softer look to it! I thought that a soft blue bow would complement the white berries perefctly, so I used Sea Glass and Ocean Waves from Altenew for the bow and added a touch of glitter to it using my Nuvo shimmer pen. It's hard to see in the photo, but it has just the prettiest shimmer to it!

All that was needed now was the sentiment and I loved the whimsical feel of this one from the set Joy to the World from Clearly Besotted. I stamped that in the same Chocolate Chip ink to keep the flow of it. I then cut out that layer using my stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn and adhered it to my card base and voila...a simple yet pretty Christmas card! Although the wreath does have 4 different layers to it and there is heat embossing involved, all in all this card took me maybe 15 mins from start to finish.

I hope you like my card for this week...I'm quite happy with how it turned out! Why not head on over to http://aaacards.blogspot.com and http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.com/ to check out the other fabulous entries!
