Altenew August 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in prizes!)

Welcome back friends!  Today we are celebrating the release of the August Monthly Subscriptions from Altenew and what would a new release be without a fabulous and always inspiring hop! This new collection features beautiful daffodils, magnolias, a peony and a sweet star balloon.  These products can be mixed and matched however you like and are very versatile.  Let's get crafty and see all that the talented designers have created!

Craft Your Life Project Kit: Magnolia & Blooms

Card #1

The Magnolia & Blooms Craft Your Life Kit is a big and beautiful floral arrangement, overflowing with blooms!  For my card I stamped the image on vellum and proceeded to add colour using the coordinating colouring stencil on the reverse of the vellum, so as not to smear the black ink.  It was cut out using the coordinating die set.  I dry embossed the background using the Fine Frames Rectangle Die Set to give it some texture and added my sentiment.

Card #2

For my 2nd project I used the Magnolia & Blooms 3D Embossing Folder that is part of the kit.  I wanted to go a bit more dramatic with this one to really  showcase this beautiful embossing folder.  I ran a gold pigment ink pad and ran it over the embossing folder on the debossing side, so the side that will have the image debossed (or pressed down rather than raised up).  I then embossed a piece of black glossy cardstock and allowed that to dry for 24 hours (very important when using pigment inks and especially on a glossy surface) and then added my gold heat embossed sentiment on a piece of vellum.  I love the simplicity of this, but as well all of the drama that it brings.

Craft A Flower: Open Peony

Who doesn't love peonies...they are one of my favourite flowers and the Open Peony Layered Die Set is just as beautiful as the real deal!  I wanted to keep the bloom crisp and clean using white but I still wanted to add that drama to it.  For the added drama I used black for the leaves and added a bit of a shadow with the glitter peeking out from behind them.  Needless to say these you wouldn't normally find in your gardem but how amazing would that be to have a garden full of sparkly leaves!  It was all added to a soft blue ink blended background along with a few black splattersm a few embellishments and the sentiment.nd the sentiment was added from the Breezy Bouquet Stamp Set.

Build A Garden: Daffodil Delight

Daffodil Delight features 2 beautiful arrangements featuring daffodils.   Daffodils are always one of the first signs of Spring, which means new life is about is come up and is always a joy to see in the garden.  For my card I decided to do some spotlight colouring to highlight 2 of the daffodils in the arrangement.  This kit also comes with an add-on die, which will cut out the images perfectly.  The sentiment was added from the same stamp set.

Mini Delight: Like A Star

How sweet is the Mini Delight: Like A Star Stamp and Die Set!  This is perfect as a stand alone set or you can use it in addition to the Mini Delight Balloon Stamp Sets.  I wanted to keep this in different shades of blue, so I stamped and diecut my balloon 3 times in varying shades.  I very lightly ink blended a background using the Over the Rainbow Stencil using the lightest shade of blue that I used for the balloons.  The sentiment was then added and using a ruler and a black fine line pen I added the strings to the balloon to ground them, because obviously I don't want them blowing away lol.

Paint A Flower: Wood Anemone

For my final project I used the Wood Anemone Outline Stamp Set. This is a beautiful big floral that is perfect for your favourite colouring mediums.  For my project I stamped the image and then used a liquid masking fluid to mask the image so I could do a watercolour wash is blue and gold over it.  Once it was dry, I removed the masking and lightly watercoloured my image. I finished it with a sentiment, some gold flecks of watercolour and  a few gold embellishments.
