Build-A-Garden: Tulip & Friends
Card #1
Okay so tulips are my absolute favourite flower and the new Tulip & Friends Stamp Set is gorgeous! I just adore the drapeyness (is that a word???) of this flower arrangement! I decided to make 2 cards with this, each with a completely different look. For the first one I went soft with the colours for the flowers, so they'd have more of an impact against the dramatic black stencilled background using the Broken Chevrons Stencil.. These flowers are really easy to colour using your favourite medium, but the coordinating simple colouring stencil makes it so quick and even easier to do! I cut out the arrangement using the coordinating die, to pop it up for dimension.
Card #2
CAF: Garden Rose Layering Die Set
The new Craft A Flower: Garden Rose Layering Die Set is a beautiful floral set that comes with 2 garden roses as well as some leaves. I decided to go fairly simple with this, but used the Poured Acrylic 6x6 Paper Pack for the roses and leaves, to add a it of interest to them. These flowers are so easy to layer up, thanks to the help of the embossed numbers and and symbols, it lets you know exactly how to position each layer and in what order.
China Rose Outline Stamp Set
The China Rose Outline Stamp Set is a beautiful set of 2 roses that are just waiting to be filled with gorgeous colour, no matter your colouring medium. I decided to do a bit of loose watercolouring for them in a fabulous bright pink colour! Loose watercolouring (or just watercolouring in general lol) is something that I struggle with and definitely need to work on, but I do really love how this turned out! Once I had my image coloured I added a bit of water all along the outside of the image while the watercolours were still slightly damp, so to try and bleed the colours a bit around the outer edges of the flowers. I love how it gives it a subtle pink glow to the panel! The big open petals of these images are perfect for so many different mediums and even better to practice different colouring methods with.
Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine
The Always Sunshine CYL Project Kit features a beautiful floral image of wild vines and flowers. This is a such a fun image! I decided to do a bit of a different take on spotlight colouring, by ink blending half of the image and then some colouring over the ink blended half, leaving the other half untouched and black and white. But to make the colouring of the images even easier I used the coordinating stencils for the image. I tell ya...these coordinating stencils make quick and easy work of colouring the images.
Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine Embossing Folder
Card #1
I absolutely adore the embossing folder that comes in the CYL kit! The botanical feel of the leaves is truly beautoful and my first card is exactly what I had in mind when I saw this folder! Just some simple green ink blending on kraft cardstock. To add the colour to the leaves I used the stencil that comes in the kit, as it has the leaves on it and it makes it so easy to make the 3D embossing stand out even more! I added a bit of metallic watercolour to some of the leaves make them pop a bit more.
Card #2
For my second card I embossed on a piece of metallic cardstock and simply brushed over the embossed image using a white pigment ink. When it dried it softens a bit and kind of takes on the colour of the cardstock. I really love this turned out by softening the look of the metallic cardstock.
