Craft Your Life Project Kit: Floral Acanthus
Card #1
Did you know Acanthus leaves, with time, have become a staple design element in architecture, furniture, textile design, and more?
For this project I stamped out all of the images in the Floral Acanthus Kit without removing the carrier sheet for the stamp set (this is a time saver if you plan on using them all) and then proceeded to colour them using the coordinating layering stencil set. All of the images were then die cut. The great thing about the die for this set, is that it is all one piece. So that means that you can die cut them all at the same time, granted you stamped them all out as is on the carrier sheet. It really makes it quick and easy! I made sure to hold onto the negative die cut piece, as it would be used to help put it all back together. I placed the negative die cut piece over the coloured cardstock and placed each die cut piece back in its original spot and adhered them using some foam adhesive, to give them definition and allow them to pop off the page.
For the sentiment I ink blended a piece of cardstock in the same colours I used for the main images, diecut the word hugs and also a black shadow layer and the sub sentiment was added below. I love how this kit has a separate die for the word hugs!
Card #2
For my second project I kept it rather simple using the 3D Embossing Folder from the same kit. I simply embossed a piece of vellum to help and show off the beautiful design of this folder. I added a die cut hello from the vellum using a previously released CYL Kit and the shadow layer in black. I layered it on a piece of black cardstock to tie in the black die cut shadow layer and added it to my cardbase.
Build-A-Garden: Pristine Peonies
Do you ever stop and pause to admire the morning dew and soft glow of nature's beauty?
The Build A Garden: Pristine Peonies has 2 beautiful and large peony clusters that will truly be the centerpiece of your projects! I love how big and bold these peonies are! For my project above I used the single floral and coloured it using the coordinating layering stencil and then die cut it using the matching die set. I masked off the background to give it a simple border and ink blended the middle using a dark blue ink and black splatters were added. The masking tape was then removed and I added a border using a black fine liner pen, overlapping the corners to add a bit of interest. The peony was the added using some foam tape and any bits that were hanging off the page was cut off so it was flush with the edges of the cardstock and the sentiment was added.
Craft-A-Flower: Tulip Full Bloom Layering Die Set
Did you know that tulips have inspired many forms of art?
I absolutely adore these big tulips in the Tulip Full Bloom Layering Full Die Set...they are always a beautiful sign that Spring has arrived! For this I cut out both tulips from white cardstock and ink blended each layer of the petals in shades of pink and a pinky coral. Don`t ask the colour of the pinky coral as that was an oops but I love how it came out lol. I added lots of black and white splatters to them.
It is really easy to build the flowers, as each layer is numbered, so you just work up from the highest numbered petal ie. if there are 5 petals then you start with number 5, then 4 and so on. They also have little shaped cutouts so you know exactly how to position each petal too...you simply just place each petal so one shape lines up perfectly with the previous one. The sentiment was added directly to the cardbase.
