Clean and Simple with a Pop of Colour
For my first card I wanted to try and keep it super clean with a lot of white space. But it still needed to have that something special. That is when I turned to the
Pressed Leaf Die. This leaf die really was perfect for what i wanted to achieve. From the front you mostly see all of that crisp white space with just a hint of what's to come, but then from the side is when you get all of that fabulous pop of colour!
To create this it really was quite simple. To start I did some rainbow ink blending using 3 inks - Teal Cave, Honey Drizzle and Purple Wine. When it comes to ink blending, it doesn't matter if you have every colour of ink that there is, you can still achieve more colours as long as you blend ones that are complimentary to one another. For example I got an orange when I used a pink and a yellow ink together or a purple when you blend a pink and blue. The possibilities are really endless as long as you have colours that will blend nicely together. Oh and a colour wheel is an indispensable tool for this as well to reference back to.
Once my ink blending was done I trimmed my cardstock to a little shorter than 3.75"x5", as I that is what my top leaf diecut piece would measure in the end and I didn't want the ink blending to peek out from the sides of it.
I diecut the leaf from another piece of white cardtsock and then cut that out ensuring the leaf was centered. Before I added it all together I added the sentiment using Jet Black Ink from the regal Beauty Stamp Set. I absolutely love the delicateness of the fonts used and I felt that it was perfect for what I wanted. I added my ink blended piece behind the leaf diecut and popped it up on my cardbase with the help of some white craft foam and then added a few small embellishments.
I really love this Pressed leaf Die and I find it is one of the Altenew products that you really don't see that much. It makes for a perfect quick, clean and simple card and you could easily make a whole set of them in minutes in a rainbow of colour by using coloured cardstock instead of ink blending. This definitely helped me to achieve my CAS goal.
You should have made your way to me from the always inspirational Altenew Card Blog. Your next stop on the hop will be the wonderful Annemarie Caister.
